Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Network Operations Technical Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation for the organization, including manuals, notices, checklists, and alerts. This role ensures all documents comply with FAA, organizational rules, and industry safety standards. The Technical Writer plays a critical role in enhancing operational safety by producing accurate, timely, and standardized content.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Documentation Creation:

  • Write and maintain technical documentation in a structured content management system or other designated formats.
  • Ensure all documents adhere to organizational records management policies and United Airlines’ guidelines.

• Collaboration and Review:

  • Work with content owners to facilitate document revisions, standardize content organization, and provide publication support.
  • Submit written content for review and approval from relevant stakeholders.

• Approval and Compliance:

  • Obtain and maintain approval records from department partners and the FAA.
  • Perform reviews of documentation to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and United policies.

• Cross-Departmental Coordination:

  • Work with other operational teams to ensure policy and procedure consistency across departments.

• Publication and Distribution:

  • Coordinate the release of approved technical documents across various electronic platforms.
  • Maintain records of approvals and document amendments.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Associate degree or 2 years of relevant work experience in technical writing.

• Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, publishing, and document management.

• Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong writing and grammar abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines independently.
  • Ability to edit and proofread peer-written content.
  • Adaptability and ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly.
  • Legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience in fields like Computer Science or Aviation.

• Skills:

  • Experience with templates or blueprints used by CCMS (Content Management Systems).
  • Ability to record and edit videos, such as PC screen captures.
  • Knowledge of S1000D or ATA technical writing standards is a plus.
