Key Responsibilities
Stress Analysis and Technical Solutions
- Perform repair stress analysis and develop analytical methods for medium-to-complex technical issues supporting airline operations, certification reports, and design changes.
- Provide engineering decisions and support edge analyses for repair solutions based on certification requirements for various nacelle components.
- Apply structural analysis principles to support the development of repair designs for metallic and composite structures.
- Prepare airworthiness documents, including substantiating analysis, and coordinate approvals with the airworthiness organization.
- Collaborate with airline customers for quick development of technical solutions, engaging with airframers, engine manufacturers, and suppliers as needed to evaluate repair data.
Customer and Internal Collaboration
- Work with Collins spares team, airline/field support managers to resolve customer issues.
- Report to the Aftermarket Technical Services Manager and contribute to the organization's vision of being a leading aerospace systems company.
- Work closely with the globally diverse aftermarket engineering team to enhance customer experience.
Compliance and Export Control
- Adhere to U.S. and country-specific export control requirements.
Required Qualifications
Academic and Professional Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of load paths, load balance, and free body diagrams.
- Proficiency in conventional hand analysis methods and advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Patran/Nastran.
- Experience with static and fatigue analysis of metallic and composite structures.
- Knowledge of nacelle systems for aircraft programs such as B787, A320Neo, A220, A350.
- Familiarity with repair methods for both metallic and composite structures, as well as standard defects.
Soft Skills
- Flexibility to work in day shifts, weekends, and holidays on rotation, adhering strictly to work schedules.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with short lead times while managing multiple repair tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in Patran/Nastran (Sol 101, 106, 111).
- Knowledge of MS Dynamics CRM systems and related practices.
- Previous experience in an aftermarket customer service engineering organization.
