Job Description

Kaleyra is looking for a DBA Engineer to join their team in Bengaluru. The position is full-time and will initially be remote due to the COVID-19 situation. As a DBA Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of database systems, ensuring data traffic optimization and problem resolution for application/backend/server data storage.

Key Responsibilities

• Database Installation & Configuration:

  • Set up and configure databases for optimal performance and efficiency.

• Database Programming:

  • Write and maintain new database programs (e.g., SQL queries) and ensure existing programs are optimized.

• Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting:

  • Optimize database performance and troubleshoot existing automation scripts to resolve database issues.

• Automation:

  • Automate repetitive or standard processes as required.

• Database Management:

  • Monitor and maintain the performance, capacity, and security of the database systems.
  • Manage data replication across resources to ensure data redundancy.

• Backup & Recovery:

  • Perform database backups, restore data when needed, and manage data archives.

• Issue Resolution:

  • Address technical queries and resolve issues related to performance, storage, access, etc.

• Client Access Management:

  • Manage client access to database systems and ensure compliance with security protocols.

• Maintenance & Upgrades:

  • Regularly maintain and upgrade the database systems to keep them secure and efficient.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience:

  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience managing MySQL/MariaDB databases in public or private cloud environments.
  • 1-2 years of experience with MongoDB is required.
  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB systems.

• Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of database replication, clustering for high-availability setups.
  • Proficiency in database security and integrity management.
  • Knowledge of backup and restore processes.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python) for automation is an added advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Linux-based systems (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, etc.).

• Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work in rotational shifts.
  • Flexible to be on standby when required.
