Job Summary:
Apple is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chemical Safety Engineer specializing in Hazard and Risk Management. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of chemical processes within our operations. This position requires an individual capable of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with chemical processes. The Chemical Safety Engineer will provide guidance on the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote a safe working environment and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement safety procedures, protocols, and guidelines for the handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
• Conduct hazard assessments and risk analyses for chemical processes and operations.
• Provide recommendations for process modifications to mitigate safety risks and improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor and evaluate compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, or near misses, and develop corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and production, to ensure safety protocols are understood and adhered to.
• Conduct training sessions on chemical safety practices for staff.
• Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including safety data sheets, risk assessments, and safety reports.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to chemical safety and risk management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Certification in Hazard Analysis and Risk Management (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in chemical safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of chemical safety laws, OSHA regulations, and environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex safety information to diverse audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency in safety software and data analysis tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical safety engineering or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical production environment.
• Experience with HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and compliance audits.
• Hands-on experience in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

Working Hours:

• Full-time position with flexible working hours.
• Occasional on-call duties or weekend work may be required, depending on project timelines or incidents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of chemical safety management and risk assessment methodologies.
• Expertise in hazard identification techniques, including HAZOP and FMEA.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, process safety, and industrial hygiene principles.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex safety data and develop actionable recommendations.
• Proficient in the use of software tools for safety analysis and reporting (e.g., MATLAB, Aspen Plus).
• Effective leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
