CCTV Technician – Job Description

Overview:

A CCTV Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) systems. This role ensures that surveillance systems are operational and secure, helping businesses and individuals monitor and protect their property.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation of CCTV Systems:

✔ Install CCTV cameras, DVRs (Digital Video Recorders), NVRs (Network Video Recorders), and monitors.
✔ Ensure proper camera positioning for optimal surveillance coverage.
✔ Wire and connect CCTV systems to power sources and data transmission networks.

2. System Configuration & Setup:

✔ Configure CCTV systems based on client requirements (e.g., recording schedules, motion detection, remote access).
✔ Integrate CCTV cameras with security systems such as alarms and access control.
✔ Set up and test video recording software, networking components, and remote monitoring access.

3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

✔ Conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure CCTV systems are fully functional.
✔ Diagnose and repair issues related to cameras, recording devices, and network connectivity.
✔ Replace faulty components and update software as needed.
✔ Respond to customer concerns and fix camera malfunctions promptly.

4. Security & Performance Monitoring:

✔ Monitor system performance for issues such as poor video quality or low storage capacity.
✔ Perform data backups and ensure security of stored video footage.
✔ Regularly verify video quality and system reliability for effective surveillance.

5. Customer Support & Training:

✔ Train clients on using the CCTV system, including camera controls, accessing video footage, and basic maintenance.
✔ Provide technical support to resolve system issues and customer concerns.

6. Documentation & Reporting:

✔ Maintain detailed records of all installations, maintenance, and repairs performed.
✔ Prepare reports on system performance and any identified issues.

7. Upgrades & Recommendations:

✔ Stay updated with the latest CCTV technology trends.
✔ Recommend system upgrades to improve security and efficiency.
✔ Suggest new surveillance products or improvements to enhance client security.
